Leicester City face a tougher task to stay in the Premier League this season than last, says manager Claudio Ranieri.
Under Nigel Pearson, the Foxes won seven of their final
nine games last term to climb out of the bottom three and finish 14th.
"It is more difficult in the Premier League in the second year than the first year," said Ranieri.
Leicester entertain Sunderland in their opening game of the season on Saturday.
"They were the best team in the league for the last eight matches," added 63-year-old Italian Ranieri.
"I saw one man, together. They pressed, played quickly and fought - it was fantastic to watch this.
"I know it is difficult because of pre-season but slowly I want to show that team - first of all the heart, the fight and then the quality."
Ranieri, Chelsea manager between 2000 and 2004, took over at Leicester in July after Pearson was sacked because his relationship with the board was "no longer viable".
