Incumbent Sepp Blatter has vowed to step down in 2016 following the corruption scandal that engulfed the organisation earlier this summer.
A number of former players including Zico and current UEFA president Michel Platini have already vowed to stand, and now the lesser-known Nakhid has also joined the race.
"I have put my hat in the ring and we are looking forward to the challenge," he said on Wednesday.

"There's a vacuum in leadership with respect to Caribbean football," he said in a recent interview. "What we need to do is make a serious investment in our potential by bringing the correct leadership regionally and globally to take the Caribbean forward.
"We need to shift the paradigm, shift FIFA away from that Euro-centric look and bring the Caribbean at the table."
