Hull trigger Odubajo release clause

Hull’s £3.5million offer for Moses Odubajo has triggered the release clause in the Brentford defender’s contract.
The Tigers are interested in a double swoop for the right-back and striker Andre Gray as Steve Bruce rebuilds his squad for a Championship promotion push.
But while Hull’s initial offer for Gray was knocked back, the KC Stadium outfit have met the clause in Odubajo’s deal.
However, the west London club now have 21 days to find an alternative buyer, and only have to negotiate with the highest bidder.
Everton have also shown an interest but are yet to table a formal bid.

Rodolph Austin’s hopes of signing for Sheffield Wednesday are over, after he was not granted a work permit.
The Jamaican midfielder was released by Leeds at the end of the season and looked set to be snapped up by their West Yorkshire rivals, but is now looking for a new club.
New FA rules state that a non-European Union player must represent a country in Fifa’s top 50 rankings over the previous two years, with Jamaica coming in at 82 over that period.
Austin captained his side in the Gold Cup final last weekend and has a son that was born in England.

Pogba could hit the courtroom to seal Juve exit

Paul Pogba is reportedly ready to head to the courts in order to seal a transfer away from Juventus.
The in-demand France international has been linked with Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain this summer, but no firm bids have materialised.
According to reports in France Football, this is partly down to a wrangle over image rights, with any buying club needing to add a further €15million to any fee in order to transfer the rights from Oualidia Tanazefti, an old friend of Pogba who currently manages them via a company registered in Luxembourg.

West Brom move for Lambert

West Brom have made a move for Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert.
Baggies boss Tony Pulis has admitted their interest and says Liverpool are ready to sell.
Liverpool have yet to agree a deal with West Brom while Norwich, Bournemouth and Middlesbrough have also expressed an interest.
But West Brom’s location may allow Lambert to commute after moving back to his native Merseyside.
Lambert could have left for Aston Villa in January but opted to stay at Anfield to fight for his place.
However the arrival of Danny Ings and Christian Benteke will push him further down the pecking order.

Palace agree Wickham fee

Crystal Palace have agreed a fee with Sunderland for Connor Wickham.
The Eagles’ offer is around £6million, but incentives and bonus payments could take it over the £10million mark.
Alan Pardew has been desperate to strengthen his striking corps in the off-season and secured a loan for Patrick Bamford earlier this month.
But with Glenn Murray and Dwight Gayle both potentially on the way out, the south London club are hoping to strengthen further with the addition of the talented youngster.
Things never got going for the former England Under-21 striker after a big-money move north as a teenager, scoring just 11 league goals and being farmed out on loan three times.
The former Ipswich forward has been a target for the Eagles since Tony Pulis’ reign, when the club watched him impress during Sheffield Wednesday’s win at Charlton in December 2013.

Balotelli offered escape route

Liverpool flop Mario Balotelli is being offered an escape route to Bologna.
It comes as Balotelli’s representatives are frantically trying to also set up a deal with Lazio while Sampdoria have also expressed interest.
Liverpool will have to take a huge financial hit on the £16million they paid AC Milan last summer and may also have to subsidise his £100,000-a-week wages.
But Serie A club Bologna have publicly admitted their interest in doing a loan deal - as long as Balotelli lowers his £5m-a-year wage demands.
Bologna director Pantaleo Corvino has said they are interested in Balotelli and veteran free agent Antonio Cassano

Toney set for Toon medical

Newcastle are closing in on their fourth summer signing.
Northampton striker Ivan Toney is understood to be having a medical on Friday ahead of his move to St James’ Park.
Newcastle are set to pay around £250,000 for the 19-year-old striker, who became Northampton’s youngest-ever player aged 16 in 2012 and has scored 11 times for the League Two club.
Toney is viewed as one for the future and Newcastle are considering loaning him out to continue his development.
New boss Steve McClaren has already snapped up midfielder Georginio Wijnaldumand striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.
A deal has also been agreed for DR Congo defender Chancel Mbemba subject to a work permit.

Upson funk

We’ll forgive you if it passed you by last season, but Matthew Upson was actually a Premier League player, as he was part of the Leicester squad that beat the drop.
The former England centre-back has a new home now, though, as MK Dons have confirmed that they have brought in the 36-year-old.
“We’ve got ourselves an experienced defender,” Dons boss Karl Robinson told the club’s website.
“[Matt] has played in the World Cup and the Premier League. I think having good leaders around the place is important.”
And it sounds like the veteran defender is relishing a new challenge:
This is a club that has grown in stature and I see it as an exciting place to be.
“Me and the gaffer have been chatting a lot about the style of football the team play and it’s something I feel I’ll fit into well.”
