Back-up goalkeeper Simon Eastwood may also return in place of Jason Steele after starting the previous two FA Cup ties against Swansea and Charlton.
Stoke are set to rest keeper Asmir Begovic and give Jack Butland a start.
Midfielder Oliver Shenton, 17, who made his league debut this week against Manchester City, is in the squad.
The tie marks the return of Stoke boss Mark Hughes to Ewood Park.
Lawro's prediction
"I watched Stoke beat Rochdale in round four - it was a tough game for them but they won by playing good football and scoring some fantastic goals."
Predictions: Lawro v FA Cup giant-killers Mickey Thomas & Nigel Jemson
The 51-year-old was Blackburn boss from 2004-2008 and led the club to the FA Cup semi-final in 2007 before taking charge of Manchester City.
"When I was there we had a chance to beat Chelsea in the semi-final in 2007," said Hughes, whose Blackburn side lost 2-1 to the Blues after extra time.
"I had a great time at Blackburn and it was a shame to see them slip out of the Premier League.
"Thankfully now Gary Bowyer looks like he is turning it around and that's great."
Rovers who were relegated in 2011-12, are ninth in the Championship, 10 points from a play-off spot with 16 matches remaining.
Boss Bowyer is calling on the fans to make the home support count against a Stoke side 10th in the Premier League.
"Hopefully we can give them something to cheer about so we are all reading about another cup upset," Bowyer said.
